These terms are the agreement between you and YourNurses.io for using our website, the AI health assistant, the health guides, the care directory and, where they are available, our text-message and phone services and our tools for healthcare professionals (together, “the service”).
Please read them with our privacy notice, which explains how we handle your information, and our medical disclaimer. By using the service, or by ticking the box when you create an account, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
1. Who we are
YourNurses.io is a non-profit health initiative. We give free health information and guidance to people in the Philippines, especially people who find it hard to see a doctor or nurse because of cost, distance, language or time.
In these terms, “YourNurses.io”, “we”, “us” and “our” mean the YourNurses.io initiative, and “you” means anyone who uses the service. You can contact us at support@yournurses.io or through the support page.
2. What the service is, and what it is not
YourNurses.io gives general health information and guidance. It can:
- answer health questions with an AI assistant, in several languages;
- help you understand documents such as test results;
- offer health guides and help you find free and low-cost care;
- let you keep your own health notes, documents and reminders in a free account; and
- send your question to a qualified nurse or other licensed healthcare professional, who replies with general guidance.
YourNurses.io is not a medical service. It does not examine, diagnose, treat or prescribe, and we do not offer telemedicine or teleconsultation through it: no one assesses, diagnoses or treats you as their patient. Using it does not create a doctor–patient or nurse–patient relationship, including when a nurse replies to you. A nurse's reply is general guidance based only on what you sent; it is not a consultation, a diagnosis or a prescription.
Always follow the advice of a healthcare professional who has seen you, and read the medical disclaimer.
3. In an emergency
Do not use YourNurses.io in an emergency. If you or someone else may be seriously ill or injured, call an emergency number now or go to the nearest emergency department.
- Emergency numbers in the Philippines: 911 (National emergency (ambulance, police, fire)) · 143 (Philippine Red Cross ambulance).
- If you are thinking about harming yourself, or are in a mental health crisis: 1553 (Mental health crisis; 24/7, including holidays) · 0917-899-8727 (Mental health crisis; 24/7) · 0919-057-1553 (Mental health crisis; 24/7) · 0966-351-4518 (Mental health crisis; 24/7).
Nobody watches conversations live, and a nurse may not reply straight away: there is no guaranteed reply time. Emergency guidance on YourNurses.io is always free. All numbers and where they work.
4. Who can use it
- Anyone can use the assistant, the health guides and the care directory, and ask a nurse, without an account.
- You must be 18 or older to create an account. By creating one, you confirm that you are.
- If you are under 18, please use YourNurses.io only with, or through, a parent or guardian. A parent or guardian can use it to ask about a child's health.
- If you use the service for someone else, such as a family member you care for, share their information only with their permission or when you are legally responsible for them, and only as much as is needed.
5. Free for patients, and how it is funded
People who use YourNurses.io for their own health, or for someone they care for, never pay for it. As a non-profit initiative, we are funded by organisations: through grants, sponsorships, public-health programmes, and fees that organisations pay for tools for their own teams.
- Funders and sponsors have no say in what the assistant, the health guides or our nurses say about health.
- There is no advertising in health conversations.
- We never sell personal information, and funders and sponsors never receive information that identifies you.
Your mobile network or internet provider may charge you for data or messages, as usual.
6. Your account
- You do not need an account to ask questions. An account lets you save conversations, keep documents and health notes, and set reminders.
- Use your own email address and keep it up to date, so you can confirm your account and reset your password.
- Choose a strong password, keep it to yourself and do not let anyone else use your account. Sign out on shared devices. You are responsible for what is done in your account, unless it happens because of something we did wrong.
- If you think someone else has used your account, tell us straight away at support@yournurses.io. You can sign out on every device from your privacy settings page.
- You can download your information or delete your account at any time on the same page.
7. Using the service fairly
Use YourNurses.io only for lawful purposes and in a way that respects other people. Please don't:
- use it to harm yourself or anyone else, or to get information to do so;
- try to get around its safety rules, for example with instructions hidden in a message, a photo or a document;
- upload or share material you have no right to share, including someone else's health information without their permission, or anything unlawful, threatening or abusive, including any sexual content involving a child;
- harass, threaten or abuse our nurses, staff or anyone else;
- pretend to be a healthcare professional or someone else, or give false information to get access;
- get into accounts, systems or data without permission, interfere with them, or test their security without our written permission. These can also be crimes under the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10175);
- overload, scrape, copy or automate the service, or use it to build a competing product, without our written permission; or
- use it for advertising, spam or any other commercial purpose without our written permission.
To keep the service free and available for everyone, there are fair-use limits on how many messages and requests can be sent in a short time. We may remove content that breaks these rules, and we may report illegal activity to the authorities when the law requires or allows it. If you find a security problem, please tell us through the support page and do not look at other people's information.
8. AI answers can be wrong
The assistant's answers are written by an artificial intelligence (AI) system. Automatic safety checks and a second AI normally review every answer for missed warning signs and unsafe advice, and answers can cite health information that our team has reviewed and approved. Even so, AI answers can be incomplete, out of date or wrong, the checks can miss things, and they may not run if a service we rely on is down.
- The urgency level on an answer is a suggestion based only on what you wrote. If you feel worse or more worried than the answer suggests, get care.
- The assistant cannot examine you, and it can misread photos and documents.
- Do not rely on an AI answer alone for a decision about your health. Check important decisions, and any change to a medicine, with a doctor, nurse or pharmacist.
- If an answer looks unsafe or wrong, please tell us with the thumbs-down button or through the support page.
9. Health guides
Our health guides are written from trusted sources, such as the World Health Organization, the Department of Health, PhilHealth and national health services, and each guide lists its sources. A guide that a licensed clinician has reviewed names the reviewer and the date. Some guides have not yet been reviewed by a clinician, and they say so clearly on the page. Medical knowledge changes and no guide covers every situation, so use them as general information, not as advice about your own case.
10. The care directory
The care directory lists clinics, health centres, hospitals, pharmacies and other services. Listings come from our own checks, from official lists such as the Department of Health's facility registry, and from OpenStreetMap, and each listing says who has checked it, if anyone. Opening hours, costs and services change, so please check with the provider before you go. A listing is not a recommendation, and we are not responsible for the care, advice or charges of any provider listed.
11. Asking a nurse
When you ask for a nurse, your request goes to our nurse desk, where a nurse or other licensed healthcare professional can read it and reply. Requests are read only by the nurses and other healthcare professionals we have approved for the nurse desk, and by our clinical administrators. We approve a professional only after checking their licence. They reply with general guidance based only on what you sent, without examining you. A reply is not a consultation, a diagnosis or a prescription, and it does not create a nurse–patient relationship. They may tell you to see a doctor or go to a health centre or hospital. A nurse replies when one is available; there is no guaranteed reply time.
12. For healthcare professionals
These extra rules apply if you use YourNurses.io as a nurse, midwife, doctor, pharmacist or other healthcare professional, for example on the nurse desk or in Agent Studio.
- Verification. We give you access to the professional tools only after we have checked your licence with the issuing authority (in the Philippines, the Professional Regulation Commission) and confirmed who you are. The details you give us must be true. Tell us straight away if your licence is suspended, revoked or lapses, or if a condition is put on it.
- Professional standards. Follow the law and the professional and ethical standards of your licence and of the country where you practise. You remain responsible for your own professional advice.
- General guidance only. Replies through YourNurses.io are general guidance. Do not diagnose, prescribe or start treatment through the service, and tell people to get in-person care when they need it. Treat any sign of an emergency as urgent and tell the person to call their local emergency number.
- AI drafts. Check every AI-written summary or draft reply before you verify or send it. What you send is your responsibility.
- Confidentiality. Use what people share only to respond to their request, and keep it confidential, as the Data Privacy Act of 2012 and your professional duties require. Ask only for the personal information you need, and do not copy it out of YourNurses.io.
- Your account. Your staff account is for you alone. Keep your password secret and sign out on shared devices. Tell us at once at support@yournurses.io if you think your account, or anyone's information, has been exposed.
- Agent Studio. A specialist assistant you build goes live only after an automatic safety check and a clinical review by someone other than you. Do not put anyone's personal information into it.
- Records and access. Your actions on requests are logged so they can be checked. We may pause or remove your access at any time, for example if your licence lapses, if you break these terms, or to protect patients.
Where we agree separate written terms with you or your organisation (for example, for an organisation's own team or a care programme), those terms apply as well, and they take priority if the two conflict.
13. Your content and ours
What you share stays yours. You keep any rights you have in what you write or upload. You allow us to store, copy, process and show it, and to share it with the service providers and professionals described in the privacy notice, only to provide the service to you and to keep it safe and secure, and only for as long as we keep it under that notice. This permission is free of charge and not exclusive. We do not use your conversations or documents for advertising, and we do not sell them. You may keep and share the answers and summaries written for you.
Ideas and feedback. If you send us suggestions, we may use them to improve YourNurses.io without owing you anything.
Our content. The website, the assistant, the health guides, our text, design, name, logo and software belong to YourNurses.io or to those who licensed them to us, and are protected by intellectual property law, including the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines (Republic Act No. 8293). You may read, print and share our pages for your own and other people's health and education, as long as you do not change them, you say they come from YourNurses.io and you do not sell them. Please do not use our name or logo in a way that suggests we endorse you.
Other people's data. Maps and many places in the care directory come from OpenStreetMap (© OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License). The list of Philippine regions, provinces, cities and municipalities is the Philippine Standard Geographic Code of the Philippine Statistics Authority. Their own terms apply to that data.
14. Other websites and services
We link to public health organisations and other websites, and some features use other services, such as maps from OpenStreetMap. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices; their own terms apply. A link is not an endorsement.
15. Availability and changes to the service
We work to keep YourNurses.io running, but it is provided free and may sometimes be slow, unavailable or interrupted, for example for maintenance or when a provider we rely on has a problem. Features can change, and we may stop offering one. Text messages, WhatsApp and phone calls work only where we have set them up and the site shows our number. If we plan to close the service or an important feature, we will tell account holders in advance where we can, so you can download your information.
16. Suspending or ending your use
You can stop using YourNurses.io at any time, and you can delete your account on your privacy settings page.
We may suspend or close an account, or block access to the service, if someone breaks these terms, puts other people at risk, misuses the service or its safety rules, or if the law requires it. Where it is safe and lawful, we will tell you why and give you a chance to explain, and you can ask us to look at our decision again by writing to support@yournurses.io. What happens to your information afterwards is explained in the privacy notice. The parts of these terms that by their nature should continue after your use ends, such as those on content, responsibility and disputes, continue to apply.
17. Our responsibility to you
We provide YourNurses.io in good faith and with reasonable care. Because it is a free general information service, and because health depends on things we cannot see, we do not promise that the service, or any answer, guide or listing, will always be available, complete, accurate, up to date or right for your situation. That is why it does not replace professional care.
As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for:
- losses that could not reasonably have been foreseen, or indirect losses such as lost income, business or opportunities;
- events beyond our reasonable control (fortuitous events), such as power or network failures, natural disasters, or failures of the providers we rely on that we could not reasonably prevent;
- the services, advice, care or charges of healthcare providers in the directory, or of other websites and services we link to;
- losses caused by your breaking these terms; or
- information that you chose not to keep, or deleted yourself.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our responsibility for fraud, bad faith, wilful misconduct or gross negligence; for death or personal injury caused by our negligence; or any other responsibility or right that cannot be limited, excluded or waived under Philippine law, including the Civil Code of the Philippines, the Consumer Act of the Philippines (Republic Act No. 7394) and the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173). If you live outside the Philippines, you also keep any rights that the consumer law of your country does not allow to be taken away.
18. If you misuse the service
If you deliberately or carelessly misuse YourNurses.io or break these terms (for example, by uploading material you have no right to share, or by attacking the service), and someone makes a claim against us because of it, you are responsible for the reasonable losses and costs we suffer as a direct result, to the extent you caused them. This does not apply to ordinary, good-faith use of the service.
19. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines.
If you have a problem with YourNurses.io, please tell us first at support@yournurses.io or through the support page, so we can try to put it right. We will reply within 15 days and work with you in good faith to resolve it. If we cannot resolve it within 30 days of your first message, either of us may take the matter to the proper courts of the Philippines. We can also agree to try mediation first.
This does not take away your right to complain to the National Privacy Commission about how we handle personal information, to ask a consumer protection authority for help where the law allows, or any right you have under the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live, including to bring a claim in its courts.
20. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when the service or the law changes, and the date at the top shows when they last changed. If a change is important, we will tell account holders by email or in the app at least 30 days before it applies, unless it has to apply sooner for safety, security or legal reasons. If you keep using the service after a change applies, the new terms apply to you. If you do not agree with them, you can stop using the service and delete your account.
21. General
- These terms, together with the privacy notice and the medical disclaimer, are the whole agreement between you and us about the service. Separate written terms for professionals or organisations apply alongside them.
- If a court decides that part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.
- If we do not enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later.
- We may transfer our rights and duties under these terms to a non-profit organisation or other legal entity that takes over running YourNurses.io, for example when the initiative registers its own legal entity. We will tell account holders first, and your rights under these terms and the privacy notice will not be reduced. You may not transfer your rights under these terms to someone else.
- You agree that these terms can be accepted electronically and that we can send you notices electronically, as the Electronic Commerce Act (Republic Act No. 8792) allows.
- These terms are written in English. Where we show a summary or a translation, it is there to help you; if it differs from the English text, the English text applies.
