Accessibility statement

We want everyone to be able to use YourNurses.io, including people who use a screen reader, keyboard, magnifier, voice control or a slow connection.

Our target

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. The site has not had an independent accessibility audit yet.

What we have done

  • Every page can be used with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline and a link to skip to the main content.
  • Text and controls meet a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1, in light and dark mode.
  • Buttons and links are at least 44 by 44 pixels on touch screens.
  • Form fields have labels, and errors are announced to screen readers.
  • Status and urgency are always shown in words, never by colour alone.
  • Animations are reduced when your device asks for less motion.
  • The site works in right-to-left languages such as Arabic.
  • Pages are small and work on slow connections. Where it is set up, you can text or call the service instead.

Known limitations

  • Translations of the website are machine drafts that fluent speakers are still checking.
  • Staff tools for nurses and administrators are available in English only.
  • The assistant's answers are written by AI and can sometimes be longer or more complex than we want. You can ask it to explain more simply.
  • Maps come from a third-party service and may be harder to use with a screen reader. Every clinic is also listed as text.
